Kinse

Just watched Kinse earlier. Thank you to Direk Jon Red for giving us tickets! 🙂 And of course to my friend/batchmate Super DonJake. 🙂

About

15 YEARS
Welcome to bedlam—where teenagers are found in sacks behind the post office, mothers march in their dozens searching for lost sons, and the guilty go free in a nation whose body count rises by the day.

For 15 years, ANC has told their stories, have followed the victims from court to armed camp, in the challenge of truth to power.

NEWS AND CINEMA
From the news channel that produced New York Festivals finalist Storyline and the critically acclaimed Truths series, ANC goes beyond the everyday lens of television news. In partnership with the Commission on Human Rights, through the support of the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Netherlands, 15 of the country’s most vivid voices in film and television are given small grants to produce 4-6 minute short films in defense of human rights.

Kinse is the second independent film series on television after last year’s highly successful Ambisyon 2010, the omnibus that had the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) x-rating the short films of Cannes Best Director Dante Mendoza, Palm d’or winner Raymond Red, and Kubrador’s much awarded director Jeffrey Jeturian. Hosted by independent actor and producer Joel Torre, AmBisyon aimed to awaken the public to the state of the nation—in the hope of influencing the Filipino voter.

KINSE
This year, 15 filmmakers will bear witness with ANC, through short films produced in the name of human rights. Hosted by actress and women’s rights advocate Angel Aquino, Kinse premieres in a gala event at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in May, and will show in a 6-episode series over ANC.
Welcome to bedlam—where the guilty go free and the dead are left unnamed, where the same stories are told as the victims wait for a justice that rarely comes. Kinse tells their stories, in the hope that with every film, there will be one less victim whose story ANC will tell.
